My Thoughts on the Catastrophe in Tohoku-Kanto Area
2:46 pm, March 11, 2011
The nightmare occurred at 2:46 pm on March 11th, 2011. Suddenly, a violent seismic tremor attacked my nineteenth floor home in the condominium complex. I couldn’t even stand up or walk as this kind of severe rock was something that I’ve never experienced in my life. The best I could do was just shout “mommy” to my wife. Our mind became completely blank, and just prayed the tremor would stop. All the dishes, glasses, and cups were flying out of the shelves and shattered on the floor.
We couldn’t do anything but seeing this horrific scene with our jaws dropped. How long was the shake? I have no idea as the shock was too strong. As the tremor subsided in some degree, I told my wife “It’s dangerous here, let’s go outside to evacuate.” She nodded quietly, and we went out of our unit. I should have noted that we were on the nineteenth floor of the condominium building. The view from here is fantastic and I was very happy with my home, but when the emergency like this happens I have to pay for what I got, though I couldn’t have imagined this kind of thing would ever happen to me. I summed up all my power to walk down from the nineteenth floor. There were already many people there when we reached the ground. Everybody looked very anxious, and that made me become aware that it was really an emergency. “What will happen to us?” This was the question everybody must have had then. To me, their faces were saying it.
Soon after that, my left foot started hurting so badly. I must have strained my foot too much by walking down nineteen floors. I had had problems with my feet for some years and was unable to walk much normally, but I have managed to muster up my power at this time of emergency. Probably this is what they call firefighter’s courage. We spent one night at the meeting room of the condominium. After shocks came one after another.
This is my experience on the day of the earthquake. The doctor found out that I fractured the bone of my foot, so I am writing this on the bed in my hospital room.
I have mixed feelings about this unprecedented Tohoku-Kanto earthquake. Mostly I have sadness and anger.
The following writing is my thoughts on this tragedy.
The method of earthquake forecast using water crystal observation technique was rejected.
About seven or eight years ago, there was a time that the Science and Technology Agency of Japan was seeking innovative technology among public and research institutes. I asked Dr. Yasuyuki Nemoto, the chief researcher of IHM Research Institute back then, who earned PhD in science from Tokyo University to put my idea and plan together and submit an application.
My proposal was to establish water crystal research labs in various places and take crystal photographs of natural spring water in each area every day. I assumed it would be possible to forecast the earthquake including its strength and location by observing the change of crystal formation. I came up with the idea knowing that water is the only medium that catches vibration and frequency.
Of course, as long as water keeps creating beautiful crystals, nothing major would happen. But, when it starts showing disfigured crystals, then reaches the point of negative extreme, earthquake happens most likely. That was my idea, and it was a very unique method based on completely innovative point of view. There was basis behind this creative idea.
The great earthquake of western Tottori’s case
When the earthquake occurred in western Tottori area in October, 2000, there was a maiden of a Shinto shrine who foresaw this incident. She kept the well water taken before, right after, and next day of the earthquake, and sent those water to our institute.
Below is the result.
1.The picture of water crystal before the quake

2. The picture of water crystal right after the quake |

3. The picture of water crystal one day after the quake |

It was very obvious to see the difference of beauty before and after the quake.
But, our application was not accepted unfortunately. We applied next year again, but the result was the same.
I happened to experience the biggest earthquake in the history. As I recall above incident I cannot help feeling angry. I decided to write this message holding very strong conviction, and I will never give it up this time.
We have been learning and acquiring wisdom from the great nature.
We are inhabitants of this planet called earth. How many years have we been living here? At the very least, it must have passed over five million years. In these five million years, our ancestors have been dealing with great nature in good times and bad times. They have been receiving water, food, place to live and clothes to wear in order to sustain their lives. Sometimes, many people have lost their lives in very cruel ways as if they were punished by the great nature.
The role of elders and shamans
think they learned lessons this way. That’s why they had wisdom to be in harmony, to take a good care of, to offer gratitude, and to offer love to the grand nature in order to survive.
The important thing was to have a dialogue or communicate with nature.
However, the nature does not speak human language. It can listen and understand our words as I introduced in the book Messages from Water in 1999, but unfortunately, we ended up not being able to understand their language. I assume that people in olden days must have tried their best to communicate with the nature using whatever wisdom and capacity they needed to muster up. People who were called shamans and elders must be the ones who excelled in that kind of ability.
What the modern civilization have done after Columbus
After the Columbus, however, the colonial policy based on western imperialism started to eliminate those spiritual leaders consciously and violently as they thought the existence of spiritual leaders was in their way. Later on, they fabricated their scientific basis only convenient to them and made it justifiable. There is a scientific term which has been revered by scientists till now. That is “reproducibility.”
Because of this term any concept which is based on hado, has been dismissed. At the same time, our communication with great nature has been cut off.
Let me question again. Is it really right to assert that anything which is not reproducible cannot be in the category of science? I certainly don’t think so.
For example, any phenomenon in natural world is the result of what I call hado. Therefore, it is not exactly reproducible. And it is impossible to foresee what happens exactly with modern science. Is there any scientist who was able to predict the break out of the Tohoku-Kanto great earthquake which took place at 3:30 pm on March 11, 2011, and the death toll surpassed fifteen thousands easily? I don’t think anyone was able to foresee that.
The source of great nature is water. Humankind has been neglecting the importance of finding out what water really is. Not only that, but we have been dismissing researchers who were putting serious effort.
Twelve years ago, I published the book Messages from Water. This book has been translated in various languages and distributed in many countries around the world. Over five million people have already read my books and they all resonated with me.
In other words, people who understood the spirit of nature raised their hands to say “Yes, I agree” to to me and to my hypothesis. This movement is not something that anyone can overlook.
I suppose people around the world have seen the images of tsunami that occurred after the recent earthquake. Water is normally very beautiful and gives us healing. On the other hand, water we saw on our TV screen looked very heartless and cruel as if it became an executioner who was punishing us human beings. I have been always saying that water is the messenger of God. Yes, I think this latest incident was the warning from God to the entire humanity, not to Japanese or Tohoku-Kanto people. It must be the last warning.
What kind of warning is it that God is giving us? I think God is telling us that we need to communicate and have dialogues with the nature of mother earth. We are now facing the nuclear threat of Fukushima plant after its fall out and partial melt down. Again, I think it is the message from God telling us that we should close the Pandora’s box as soon as possible because we were not supposed to open it by getting into nuclear technology.
I would like to ask all scientists not to dismiss my hypothesis by suppressing it socially, it is okay that you don’t agree with me. You don’t have the right to do that.
If there are some kind hearted scientists who think that Emoto’s idea might make sense somehow, please stand up now as it is the crucial time for us.
